Proposals

This website is an attempt to consolidate resources and provide fact-based articles that challenge various myths and legitimate concerns surrounding walkable communities. The objective is to disseminate these articles to individuals who are sceptical about a future with fewer cars. The creation of these articles requires a significant investment of time, as the aim is to provide sources for all major claims made. This signifies that solely sources from peer-reviewed journals are employed, or statistics provided by government agencies or private organisations with a proven track record of delivering high-quality data. Arguments may be revised when new information becomes available, or is retracted. Additionally, proposals are welcomed. These should, ideally, apart from the argument, also include a basic rebuttal and solution proposals. However, proposals just steelmanning car dependencies are also welcome. Please find below a list of all proposed topics that we currently consider. Please ensure that yours is not already listed there.

• Our cities were built for the car, and change is infesaible/impossible!
• Public transport, cyling, and pedestrian infrastructure is too expensive! The cost-benefit analysis just does not work out!
• Cars can move more people more efficiently.
• All the bike lanes around me are rarely used and they just take away valuable space from car drivers.
• My country is too big!
• Public transit is not safe, and is overrun by criminals and the homeless.
• The bigger my car the safer I am.
